review

Wesley says that double indemnity is a great film but the book was ok he was more impressed with james m cains other work in novels for instance "the post man always rings twice" is one of wesleys favorite ones. James m. Cain  is one of the best neo noir writers but the films come alive. I to think that the film was much better but the book was ok as well. the way james writes his novels he is one of the best  "James M. Cain is one of the indisputable greats of crime noir novels".

what i think

on question one I think that the ending to the film was a lot better than the ending in the novel although I was expecting more of a better ending in the film because of how much I didn't like the ending in the novel I wasn't jumping for joy after I saw the film either I guess since the story it self was so powerful and so just good I was waiting to be left like wow this was a fabulous ending to a fabulous film but I was like um OK better than the book but still not my wow factor. I would have loved to see what Walters fate was and if he ended up in jail or dead after the gun shot. But since i have to choose i would say the ending to the film was better for me because the novel was so confusing i was like what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
question 4 when i read the book i was thinking exactly that they would look that way especially Phyllis i knew that's what she would look like and i think they picked goo actors to play the roles the only one i thought didn't look like the image i had in my head reading the book was Mr keyes i was expecting him to look somewhat like Walter a tall handsome man and instead he was short and frumpy but as far as the rest are concerned they all were exactly what i had pictured in my head.

No justice sabrina sabedra

the ending for me wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. I thought that for sure Lola and NiƱo and Phyllis and Walter would end up in jail. I think Phyllis might end up  killing Walter since they were on the ship together although she wanted to be with him It crossed my mind that maybe she would eventually plot to kill him. I was convinced that Lola and Walter would end up together since it seemed as though he really wanted to be with her. I hope the end of the movie is better then the book I was disappointed and a little confused I was expecting a more powerful dominate ending and instead it left me kind of like that's it that's what it was. the part where he says "the moon" I was a bit confused and taken back not to sure what he meant. there was no proper justice for Mr. Nirdlinger or the first Mrs. Nirdlinger. the finger was being pointed at everyone but no one went down for the murders. Mr. Keyes seemed some what corrupt it seemed he just didn't want to deal with the case and the people he just let it go. the movie I hope will be much better and give me and ending I understand and not one that leaves me scratching my head.

sabrina sabedra The Old Film

Neo-Noir films were violent and rough to say the least it seems as though we complain about the films today with such violence and sex. yet the neo-noir films were so much worse with hard core violence and sex scenes as graphic as pornography. The girls are dressed very provocatively and the scenes are based in mostly bars and streets. The cities in which film noir were filmed seemed to be a whole city of violence. the violence and sex in our movies today seem to show that although still present not as hardcore. Today the neo-noir films are not in our main stream films they are now low budget films a b grade movie and nothing more the most resent movie that I can recall is sin city that had a neo-noir film quality to it although I am not to familiar with these movies as it was before my time it seems as though its a thing of the past and maybe we should not complain so much of the violence and sex in our movies today for it could be worse. I don't think that is should be brought back I think we have enough violence and sex and half naked woman on tv although things back in the day in the 40s and 50s were more modest and respectful film noir was the exception for the films were out of place. Sometimes its better to leave the past in the past
